EVENT 2024 Whitby Silver Stick
Barbeau had some flashes of offence in my viewings of Myers over the Silver Stick, maneuvering his way to the middle of the ice with some solid puck handling. While these were nice to see, I mainly noted him for his persistent off-puck play all over the ice. Whether it was on the backcheck or forecheck, Barbeau was constantly moving his feet and being a pest for opposing puck carriers. He won back possession of the puck on many occasions and created some scoring chances off these sequences, but the consistent effort in puck pursuit was the key takeaway.

Game Information HEO Playoffs
Barbeau was the primary play driver for this Myers squad, making everything happen on the ice. Like in the HEO All-Star game, he attacked well off the rush, relying on his powerful skating and handling to push the play down the middle of the ice and create off counterattacks. Karsten was constantly looking to navigate his way by checks, weave in and out of defenders, all through this combination of puck skills while in motion. Barbeau was the catalyst behind two of Myers' four goals, scoring five-hole on a breakaway and sparking a rebound goal when his two-on-one shot ricocheted perfectly off the goalie's pad onto Gardner's stick. Karsten has been someone who has really impressed me in the second half of the year, and mainly due to his physical tools and how he leverages them, and I see a strong case that I have him a bit low in my rankings.

Game Information 2025 HEO U16 Top Prospects Game
I've watched Myers no shortage of times this year, and this was potentially the best I've seen Barbeau play. He was all over opponents, applying pressure, winning pucks, and just being disruptive, especially in the neutral zone, to win back possession and spark counterattack chances. Karsten was explosive down the middle of the ice, carrying pucks with speed and attacking with a full head of steam, pushing defenders back. Whether executing a skill move to attack the middle or taking pucks wide and connecting on a slot pass, Barbeau was attacking off the rush well all game long, and was a primary driver of offence for Team Black. He added one of their goals, receiving a stretch pass to spring him on a breakaway and rifling a quick shot glove side past the goaltender.

Game Information HEO U16: Ottawa Myers vs. Eastern Ontario Wild
Barbeau is another Myers forward who I noticed much more in my second viewing of them. He tallied the Myers' first goal, being open back door to tap in a beautiful pass from Jack Malandra to open the scoring in the first minute of play. While there were more flashes of him attacking the net and having his own chances, I mainly noted him for his ability to play on the outside of the zone, protect the puck, and spot passing lanes to teammates in scoring positions. Karsten had many of these sequences where he successfully fended off pressure, scanned for gaps, and moved a puck to the slot area and just seemed to thrive off the cycle and on the outside of the zone. Barbeau connected on plenty of quality passes, notably setting up Myers's final goal with a nice drag move to pull the puck from the side of the net to open space below the goalline, and then slipped a pass out to an open Ben Carr, who smacked home the Barbeau pass.
