EVENT 2024 Toronto Titans Tournament
Kingston was one of the primary engines behind so much of what the Marlboros were doing. He was often the one carrying the puck up and down the ice, relying on his powerful and explosive skating to dictate play down the middle of the ice and be a force in transition. Harris was able to cleanly transition the puck in the neutral zone time and time again and just blow by defenders trying to contain him. Within the offensive zone, I found Harris to be a clever passer, never trying to do too much and always looking to distribute to his teammates. There were many smart little touch passes where Kingston didn't overhandle the puck and dished it off quickly to a teammate for a solid shot on the net. The explosive skating and transition impact has been my assessment of Harris since I started getting to know this '09 Ontario class and it was terrific to see that still be the case and him dominate over the Titans Tournament.

EVENT 2024 Draft Day Showcase
Kington was constantly carrying the puck through the neutral zone with ease, and being the primary playdriver for GTA. Almost every time Kingston picked up a puck in his defensive zone, he found a path to a controlled transition up the ice, mainly due to his powerful skating and ability to skate by forecheckers. While there was some diversity in how he contributed offensively, the recurring theme was how he attacked off the rush after successfully transitioning the puck. Cannon frequently beat defenders to the outside, using his powerful stance to protect the puck and cut in for scoring chances. If he couldn't drive himself, his efforts Kingston was one of the most impactful forwards at the Draft Day Showcase and the leader for GTA. The key element behind his success was his power and how he protected the puck. His skating was powerful and explosive, gaining tremendous momentum with every stride. Similarly, Cannon was balanced and sturdy, making it very difficult to knock him off the puck. Both of these areas enabled him to dominate in transition, car wouldn't just fizzle, as he was constantly scanning for passing lanes, connecting on plenty of clever passes to the interior from this exterior position. All of this worked together nicely as Thibodeau was so impactful in transition and could chain clean zone entries into chain chance after chance. Like with many players on this GTA squad, it was an impressive performance from the Marlboro forward, showcasing why he is a top player in the province for the 2025 OHL Draft.

Harris was a primary play driver for the Marlies, exploding up ice with his powerful skating and transporting pucks through the neutral zone. He registered controlled entry after entry, crossing the offensive zone with a full head of steam, pushing defenders back, and giving him space to register some solid chances off the rush. I thought Kingston was effective on the forecheck, winning pucks down low in the offensive zone, relying on his physical tools to win possession.

Kingston was the other engine for his team, next to Thibodeau, spearheading rushes or moving the puck through neutral to set up others for likely opportunities. His ability to transition play is what I was most impressed with in this game. Playing against a team with a hard defense to get through, Kingston routinely would find ways to breach their line. Add in how he would erupt with speed to drive through defenders and he showed how dynamic he can be, stepping up his game to create offense against a tougher opponent.

The highest ranked Ontario-born skater – Kingston Harris slots in at fourth. Arguably the best 200-foot skater in attendance, Harris made several high-end plays at both ends of the ice, indicative of an intelligent, physically mature, and skillful skater. His coverage away from the puck through the middle of the ice enabled him to intercept passes, pick pockets of opponents with disciplined stick checks, and form quick counters through the neutral zone in transition after forcing a turnover. He owns a strong and powerful stride that is capable of pulling away from backchecking forwards, it’s the type of stride that only takes a few powerful strides to build speed and, in the process, allows him to endure physical conflicts as he works through pushes and shoves due to such strong balance. When the puck was in his hands, he was very methodical in his decision making, slowing the game down, manipulating opponents by pulling them, faking passes and shots to freeze defenders, and ultimately using wicked precision in both his passing ability and shooting ability to finish off plays. He owns the type of talent that even if he was having a quiet game all he needed was a half-second of space to capitalize on a chance and blow open the game. Size, speed, skill, and defensive responsibility away from the puck made Harris one of the most valuable players at the event.

Along with Thibodeau, Harris lead the way as one of the most involved in transition, making things tick for the Marlboros. I noted him as an incredibly powerful skater with slick puck skills, which he combined to evade defenders and dominate in transition. Kingston was constantly navigating around defenders in the neutral zone and entering the offensive third with control, making him one of the primary puck managers for the Marlboros side. Within the offensive zone, Harris used these same puck skills to attack defenders and access the dangerous parts of the ice. Frequently, he'd drive the middle lane, draw in defenders, and dish the puck off to teammates in scoring positions for quality scoring chances. It was a tremendous first impression from the Marlboro forward that put him high on my watch list as I work toward an initial top 20 Ontario-born 2009s.
