EVENT 2024 Whitby Silver Stick
Since Perreault has officially landed with the Titans, I've been checking his play out here and there, but the Silver Stick was my first chance to put pen to paper and evaluate his play. The mobility and smart passing decisions have been my primary notes every time I've watched him, and that was again my takeaway over the Silver Stick. Whether it was to close down an opponent or to escape pressure, Matthew relied on his footwork to add value. Especially on the defensive side of things, I thought he did a stellar job at using his feet to take away time and space, keep threats to the outside, and shut them down. With the puck, Perreault was smart, always hitting on his outlets, and helped the Titans transition out of their zone into the offensive third.

Game Information GTHL U16 Playoffs
Perreault continues to impress in the second half of the season with yet another strong performance. He was exceptional in defending rushes, applying pressure all over the neutral zone, making crossing his blueline difficult. Perreault was aggressive in getting attackers' space, relying on his mobility to close them down, and shut down Rangers' transition efforts. Within the offensive zone, Matthew was confident to rotate around, walk the line, and try to find ways to spark scoring chances. He created plenty of shooting and passing lanes through his feet, escaping the forward trying to close him down, including one nice sequence where he evaded and then threaded a pass backdoor for a goal. Perreault made a sizeable jump in my mid-season rankings, and if this level of play continues over the remainder of the playoffs & OHL Cup, I can see him being worthy of another uptick.

Game Information 2025 GTHL Top Prospects Game
Perreault continued his stellar play at the GTHL Top Prospects game after many positive viewings at the Oakville Winter Classic. There was an impressive blend of confidence, mobility, and puck-moving that all added together to make for a solid performance. When he had the puck, he was confident, looking to play with control, never panicking under pressure and making a play to get the puck securely up to his forwards. If that meant dodging a check with a side-step or a skill move, Matthew showed he could evade, and buy himself space to make a play. He defended well, using his feet to take away attackers' options, break plays down, and win back possession. Perreault was one of the few Team Blue goal-scorers, creeping into the slot and blasting home a one-timer.

Game Information Oakville Rangers Holiday Classic vs. Don Mills Flyers
A main storyline of the Oakville Rangers Winter Classic is how good Perreault has been playing, and this was another strong performance. He was highly effective at shutting down rushes, being aggressive to get into forward's space, and stopping their attacks early in their progressions. Perreault was rarely passive allowing entries, instead he was eager to apply pressure and make crossing his blueline difficult for his opponents. As always, Matthew connected on his outlet passes, but his defensive impact was certainly the standout element.

Game Information Oakville Rangers Holiday Classic vs. BK Selects
This was another strong showing for Perreault, who continues to impress game in and out. I thought he showed way more of an attacking mindset, carrying pucks up ice, attacking down the wall, and rotating around the offensive zone. He sparked offence on many sequences through his ambition to step up and push forward, relying on his mobility to dodge threats. After seeing plenty of smart puck-moving from Matthew in this tournament, it was great to see more confidence to jump up in the play and contribute offensively.

Game Information Oakville Rangers Holiday Classic vs. Shattuck St. Marys
I liked Perreault in this one, as I thought he was excellent at taking away space and shutting down threats. He was aggressive on the defensive side of the puck, looking to apply pressure and force turnovers. Matthew got stop after stop, mainly because he was eager to jump up and take away his opponent's space to operate. With the puck, he was confident in using his mobility, shaking forecheckers and pushing play up ice.
