EVENT 2024 Toronto Titans Early Bird
Tang was the final piece to this Titans' top line, and he displayed a wide variety of offensive abilities. With the puck, he was confident and patient, always looking to make a play under control. I noted that he never hesitated to slow the play down, take that extra second to process his options, and then spot the optimal play. There were some flashy moments of executing a high-end skill move, but it was also a nice blend of just making the right play given the situation to link plays together. Finally, I thought he did a stellar job at finding open space, being in the right spot for his linemates to find him and registering plenty of high-quality chances through this layer of smart offensive positioning and awareness. When he had his scoring chances, his ability to unleash powerful shots was especially notable, recording an overtime winner off the back of his shooting ability. While Tang didn't land on my first list, he was one of the last names I was debating including, and I easily could have included him, so I wouldn't be surprised if he creeps into the first round on my list as the year goes on.

EVENT 2024 USA Hockey Boys 15 National Camp
I was extremely impressed with Michael Tang’s playmaking ability in my viewings, he finished with two goals and three assists but could certainly have finished with double those numbers. His ability to control the puck was supremely impressive, he was able to stick handle circles around the opposition and consistently work his way past the first line of defense and get into the dangerous areas to create plays. He accelerated well into space while keeping his head up and assessing his options, showing great patience on the puck while looking for incisive passing lanes. He turned it on at times and became an aggressive puck carrier, taking players on and beating them with skill. His decision making was on point and he showed great awareness of the play developing around him enabling him to pick out a precise pass at the right time to set up high end scoring chances. He earned himself great scoring opportunities through his slick handling as well, slaloming through defenders and opening up lanes to the net for himself. He found some time to pitch in defensively as well, using his high mobility to put himself in good positions to cut out passes and limit the options for other teams. His offensive skills were very impressive and he utilized them effectively to power the Team Purple offense throughout the camp.

EVENT 2009-BORN KINGS OF SPRING NASHVILLE
Michael Tang is another player who I noticed in this event that wasn’t necessarily always around the puck making plays shift-in and shift-out, but when he did come in possession of the puck, he was incredibly noticeable thanks to high end talent. A nice series of crossovers when pressed let him accelerate away from checkers, with impressive escapism he was able to find passing lanes to help transition the puck up ice along with open seams in the offensive zone. His most impressive attribute was work in tight crowded spaces. Great puck touches and lateral shiftiness to step around and through bodies all while delicately handling the puck and keeping his head up let him slip into dangerous areas of the ice to generate scoring chances. If he were in possession of the puck more often and made moves to the middle of the ice more regularly, you’d likely see him higher in the rankings.

Game Information 2024 USA Hockey Boys 15 National Camp, Team Purple vs Team Navy Blue
This was an excellent game from Michael Tang, he was conducting the offense very well with his ability to get on the puck and carve open the defense with his passing ability. He accelerated into space well with his head on a swivel, constantly scanning the passing options at his disposal and taking space confidently. His distribution was excellent, setting up a pair of Conboy’s goals and showing great patience on the puck and ability to manufacture time and space to work with. His mobility was impressive, showing good edgework and agility to weave his way through the defense and into the danger zones. He adjusted to the layout of the defense well, taking space and shooting opportunities if the passing lanes were unavailable. One of his goals was a spectacular bit of patience and skill with the puck on his stick as he deked the goalie out of position and slipped it inside the post from below the goal line. His defensive contributions were helpful as well, persistently pressuring the opposition and closing down with great speed to interject with a stick check and disrupt play. While he attempted a little too much at times, he was incredibly effective and almost always made the right passes at the right times leading to a flourishing offense.

Game Information 2024 USA Hockey Boys 15 National Camp, Team White vs Team Purple
A strong forward, Michael Tang made himself noticeable through some relentless off-puck play, that quickly turned into on-puck play. He covered ice quickly with good acceleration, and explosive stride, courtesy of deep knee bend and some solid posture, he was an effective forechecker in terms of both technical ability cutting down angles, and pure effort. When handling the puck, he showed some good dexterity to his possession ability, handling it from awkward positions around his body, he was able to prolong the time spent on-puck, boxing out opponents with some good size and strength as well. On the 4-1 goal he chased down a loose puck and made a great play slinging a pass across the ice to Landon Jackman, tallying an assist on the goal.
