EVENT 2024 Whitby Silver Stick
I've previously written about Dunn's ability to explode down the wing, create separation, and generate shots off the rush, and while that was still present in his game, I wanted to highlight a few more elements in his game that I saw emerge over my views during the Silver Stick. I thought Dunn showed more of an ability to use his handling to deceive defenders and find ways to the scoring areas. He was more aggressive and eager to try to drive toward the middle of the ice, and he had some quality sequences of getting in tight for grade-A chances. I also thought Myles showed a bit more of a passing layer to his game, scanning for teammates in scoring positions and smartly hitting them with clever passes. The raw skill and abilities have been there in my early evaluation of Dunn, but seeing a little tweak to how he's applying them and a more well-rounded offensive arsenal was great to see over this tournament and what landed him a spot on my most recent rankings.

EVENT 2024 Ontario Draft Day Showcase
While the Sun County forwards were the ones who really drove things for Alliance West, there were still a few skaters outside of them who caught my eye, Dunn leading that group. The theme that stood out in Dunn's game was his finishing touch. Myles did a great job putting himself in the right positions, timing his routes into open space, and just doing everything possible to be available for a pass in a dangerous position. And when he received these passes, he almost always found the back of the net, speaking to a player with that desirable finishing ability. Over the weekend, he scored many goals in different ways, but they all revolved around this idea of being in the right spot at the right time and capitalizing. Myles is a powerful skater with a long stride who showed he could both gain separation and close down opponents with his feet, but this conversion on his opportunities made him a standout

EVENT 2024 Alliance Face-Off
Like Nutting, Dunn entered the year on my shortlist to keep an eye on after some solid first impressions over my initial once-over of the '09 Ontario crop last winter/spring. I noticed Dunn mainly for his ability to create chances off the rush. Almost once a shift, he'd accelerate up ice, fly down the wing, and spark a chance all through his ability to beat defenders to the exterior. Typically, Myles was able to gain separation solely through his explosiveness, but there were some impressive flashes where he combined a slick puck touch and lateral cut to dodge a defender and make his way into the dangerous areas. All of this added up to plenty of chances for Myles, and he converted on one, carrying the puck end-to-end on the powerplay, beating a defender wide with a quick move to the outside and scoring from a near-impossible angle on the goaltender. The combination of powerful skating, handling, and shooting ability puts Myles well on my radar, and I'll be watching him closely over the Silver Stick to see how he fares relative to the other top-end players on my watchlist for expansion to my next top 40.

I've talked about Dunn's high-end technical skills and skating a handful of times this year, and while those were still apparent in this view, I wanted to highlight a few other elements that stood out. I mainly came away impressed with his persistent forecheck and smart decision making on the puck. It wasn't the flashy moments that I've talked about in the past, but executing the simple but effective plays to win pucks and keep possession within the Canucks' control. Overall, I thought he used his skills more practically, and made his impact in more ways than just sparking offence with a skill move which was great to see. Despite his primary value being these little details, he did still score twice in this game. The first was a really smart well-timed route to put him in the right spot at the right time net front to be open for a pass, and he made no mistake to capitalize on his opportunity. The second he blasted a one-timer on the powerplay, firing the puck short side in the blink of an eye before the goaltender could react. Like Nutting, Myles is someone I've liked game-in-game-out across every viewing of EMC this year, and with a strong performance at the OHL Cup, I could easily see him getting a slight bump on my final list.

I wasn't tracking shot attempts, but I'd have to guess Dunn led the way for Team Navy with the most shots on target. He always seemed to be in the right spot to intercept a pass, force a turnover, and then quickly get a shot off. Dunn showed his usual bursts of speed on the rush, crossing the offensive blueline with a full head of steam and quickly ripping a shot on net.

I really liked Myles' puck touches in this game. He was assertive with the puck on his stick and showed confidence to maneuver around defenders and advance play into the dangerous areas of the ice. It wasn't always the flashy deke to escape pressure, but a lot of smart tactical touches to put the puck out of reach from his opponents. Dunn proved to be a powerful skater, and when combined with his puck management, he was one of the more dominant players on his side from a puck possession standpoint. Dunn scored two goals in the all-star game, both off quasi-breakaway chances, finishing both with quick shots past the netminder.
