While he wasn’t able to impact the scoresheet, I thought Ruel demonstrated a solid base to work with throughout the tournament; namely a strong physical frame to go along with some accurate passing in transition and smart off-puck play. He was making quick decisions off the rush and connecting on his feeds, allowing his teammates to attack the zone with speed while he glided into space looking for a return pass in a dangerous area. He even flashed decent enough puck skills on a few occasions, opting to take defenders head on 1v1, pull pucks around them and attempt centering feeds to the slot area.
