EVENT 2024 Whitby Silver Stick
It took me until the Silver Stick, but I started to see Roberts' game shine more and more, solidifying him as someone who belongs on my rankings. I always saw him as a strong, complimentary scorer who could find space and capitalize on his chances. That still came through in my evaluation of him at the Silver Stick, but I thought he shined more as a creator of his own chances, which was great to see. He was exploding up ice, using his frame to protect the puck and cutting in for scoring chances on many occasions. Sam aggressively attacked the dangerous areas as a puck carrier, relying on some quick handling to dodge checks and access premium scoring areas. Of course, the finishing touch and shot were apparent, but overall, he was way more involved in sparking offence than I've previously noted.

Like Ardagh, Roberts was one of the few on Team Blue I felt was always in the mix when they had their offensive chances. I thought he found space well, always in the right spots to be open for a passing, and had a few high-danger chances off catch and release shots. Roberts scored one of the few goals for Team Blue, showing hands in tight to tuck a puck around the netminder.

Game Information Oakville Rangers Holiday Classic vs. WBS Knights
Roberts displayed a solid mix of shooting and passing threat in this one. I thought he was one of the most involved offensively for the Jr. Canadiens, creating dangerous chances throughout the game. Sam found the back of the net with a quick catch and release as a trailer off a drop pass from Warren that trickled over the goalline.

Game Information 2024 Marlboros Holiday Classic SF vs. Toronto Marlboros
Roberts was the one doing a lot of the hard work on his line, plunging into puck battles, fighting for net front pressure, and absorbing hits. This made him a great compliment for Warren and Laus, as he did an excellent job on puck retrievals. His ability to push defenders off the puck and move it out from the corners to create a cycle or set up whoever was open around the net was valuable for the sustained offensive pressure the Jr. Canadians had in this game. This type of play also set up his line for the game-winning goal as he secured puck possession on a dump-in to create the scoring opportunity. On the forecheck he limited the time players had to move out the puck, often forcing them to make quick reactionary passes as he pinned them down with a hit or tried to insert himself between them and the puck.
