Deveault had a few instances of skill that I thought helped him standout among his team. He was able to get a few good looks in the middle of the ice by using give and go’s with teammates, combining it with skilled receptions by kicking passes up this blade in full stride to get off chances in tight. He flashed his strong shooting mechanics from time to time throughout the tournament as well, showing great power and velocity through his motions and getting shots off quickly, although he wasn’t able to bury one over the course of 4 games.

Despite finishing with no points in 4 games I thought Deveault was able to flash what made me such a big fan of his game during my regular season viewings from time to time. He’s at this best with the puck on his stick attacking in transition, using his passing acumen and processing ability to make quick and accurate feeds to his teammates while continuing to drive his feet looking to initiate give-and-go sequences. I noted a handful of moments where he was able to initiate dangerous looks for his teammates by drawing pressure towards him once he entered the zone off the rush and slipping a pass through a stick to a streaking teammate who could then attack downhill into space. It just seemed like the puck wasn’t finding him a whole lot here, but he didn’t seem to get discouraged and didn’t do a whole lot to deter my overall thoughts on this player.
