Weston released a heavy snapshot from a bad angle and picked his spot to showcase that type of offensive potential. He was pulling pucks around defensive sticks and passing down low while doing a good job of recognizing the timing of teammates driving into open space. He almost scored a nice tip goal, was pursuing dump-ins with fervor, and was winning a lot of little stick battles along the boards. Since he can manipulate players laterally and control the puck when some others cannot, he was the best option for a PP in lots of moments. I thought he had a solid showing.

I saw a mixture of approaches from Weston in my views which involved times coming down lower in the zone to battle defensively for pucks while in other moments purposefully circling higher in the zone with long, wide sweeps. When he was able to use that little bit of a step to his advantage, he could build speed to burst past defenders on the outside and try to create off the rush. I saw one other play where he used that straight line burst to be able to get past a player in a smaller pocket of a window. He was able to drag laterally just inside the blueline and power around for a chance. He did like to put extra power into his wrist shots in motion when possible.
