Petit is a highly intelligent yet undersized defender who made subtle yet effective plays at a high rate throughout the tournament. He was consistently getting pucks up quickly to his forwards on breakouts, demonstrating good scanning habits on his retrievals to assess his options and executing outlets to his wingers on both his forehand and his backhand. He even flashed some escapability going back for pucks, using subtle head fakes to shake forecheckers and explode into space and skate the puck out of danger himself. I noted a few smart activations on the offensive side of things, most notably off the rush where he created odd man rushes for his team and generated looks for himself from dangerous areas despite not capitalizing.
