3.5-Star Alex Bosland Drawing Interest From Army

3.5-star defenseman Alex Bosland is drawing significant interest from an Atlantic Hockey program, specifically Army West Point, he tells PuckPreps.

The 6-foot, 185-pound blueliner, who was previously committed to Maine, visited Army in December.

The 2005-born Basking Ridge, New Jersey native just completed his final junior season in the BCHL with the Blackfalds Bulldogs, recording three goals and 22 points in 54 games.

In terms of his playing style, Bosland is a steady two-way defenseman who plays a simple, controlled game. He logs regular minutes in all situations and moves the puck well. He makes clean first passes on breakouts, usually choosing the safe option instead of forcing plays. His numbers show he helps his team maintain possession and move play up ice without needing to handle the puck a lot or take a lot of risks.

Offensively, he supports the play and moves pucks but is not a primary driver or a major shooter. While most of his shots this past season came from beyond the dots, he did find success when activating down low. Defensively, he shows good engagement, wins a fair share of puck battles, and contributes with hits and blocks. He reads the play well and recovers pucks, keeping things under control rather than chasing.

At the next level, Bosland projects as a reliable, low-risk two-way defenseman who can handle minutes in different situations.
