Aiden had a much better showing in this game than the previous one. He was playing with a lot more pace to his game, hounding pucks on the forecheck and in the neutral zone and breaking up plays. He made a great play in the first period when he made a deft one touch play through a defender before making a perfect backhand pass to a teammate in the slot for a scoring chance. I liked how Aiden was consistently able to get the puck off the wall and into the middle of the ice in the offensive zone, using both his above-average skill and large frame in conjunction with one another. Aiden scored the game winning goal on a powerplay late in the third period, when he snapped a quick one timer from the circle into an open net after the Growlers goaltender had lost his footing.

O’Donnell was a critical part of the Steele Subaru’s attack, flanking their top line and playing on their first powerplay unit. He was anticipating the play very well in all three zones, pouncing on loose pucks and either prolonging offensive zone time or initiating the transition game. He had a good stick in the defensive zone, that he used to clog up lanes and deny access scoring chances in the interior. Off the rush he was taking the puck to the middle rather than operating around the perimeter, which drew defenders towards him and allowed him to dish to the outside and create space for his teammates. There were plenty of times in this game when he tried to attack defenders head on and trying to put pucks through them which ended in a loss of possession. This game did very little to ease my qualms about him as a play driver as he rarely looked off his first passing option and wasn’t able to adapt when the play broke down.
