I thought Hannay used his mobility very effectively from the backend for New Brunswick. He showed good footwork on defensive recoveries, consistently beating other players to loose pucks and using quick turns to get away from pressure. He showed great initiative to join the rush and was most effective on give and go’s with teammate’s, where he would use his speed to drive the net after dishing it off. He commanded the top of the zone very efficiently on the powerplay and displayed a good propensity for getting pucks through with his accurate shot from the point (although I believe it lacks power at this current juncture of his development). There were a few bobbling issues throughout the tournament, but I think with added strength he’ll become more adept at controlling the puck. I believe some added deception to his game could really make his skating more of a weapon as he did skate himself into trouble a few times. Despite his size I thought he held his own quite admirable in the defensive zone, using his feet to stick with opposing forwards.
