I don’t think Bissoon was at his best in this tournament, but he still stood out as a play driver for Team Green. Bissoon’s game is built around impeccable skating abilities. His backwards edgework and drive through his stride are so powerful yet he can remain so airy and efficient in transitions. He is balanced when changing directions and shifts his weight with such quickness that it’s tough for attackers to read his intentions. He also has the agility and confidence in his skating to attack wide with an open 10&2 posture, giving him better access to see the play develop and find teammates in stride. On the defensive side of the puck Bissoon plays much bigger than his stature would suggest. He is punishing along the wall and uses his leverage effectively to protect the net front. I think Bissoon has many tools to be a difference maker, but I didn’t always love the consistency of his decision making at this tournament. When he picks his spots to be a contributor up ice and when he sits back in a defensive posture do not always jive with what the play demands. I think he could afford to be more consistently engaged in transition and on the offensive end as he has the mobility to cover a ton of ground.

It is quite the spectacle when you think about how good Jack is and how much room he still has for growth as a December birthday. While he doesn’t have the size or the power as others on the Edge blueline, he moves with excellent balance and intent in all directions. The depth of his cuts, turns, and knee bend give him ample explosivity in spots where he needs to quickly react. In this game defensively, he did a great job of keeping players in front of him with little pushes while matching pace with back crossovers. Jack pushes them along the boards and closes off the skating routes intelligently. I also love how his skating allows him to move wide and open up quick shot lanes along the outside. The skating does the work and he can fire low shots for rebounds with traffic in front.

2024 WHL Draft Final Evaluation
Projection: Top-4 Defender
Projectable Skills: Skating fluidity and two-way positional play
Development Opportunities: Creativity in motion, strength
Jack is one of the youngest players in the draft class and it is surprising how incredible of a skater he is through his edges at this stage of his development. His best weapon is his processing and his mobility. It allows him to close gaps quickly, join or spur the rush, and use that balance and situational awareness to his advantage. I find that his posture is wonderful, he opens his body to shot and passing options with and without the puck, and is becoming more apt to sneak in further for shot opportunities and give and go attack. His shot power is about average at this point and will improve with strength training and natural development but I love when he is able to shoot quickly after pushing down the slot. Overall, the skating stride will let him adapt to the speed of the WHL quickly and his physical growth and determined creativity will see how far he can push up the ranks of play. I see a lot of Kalem Parker in his execution and that will help teams dramatically.
