I thought the attention to detail on the defensive side of the ice was what made Schellenberg such an effective defender throughout the Silver Stick tournament. His strong defensive stick allowed him to quickly close the gap and eliminate space from opposing puck carriers as well as getting into passing lanes to disrupt his opponent’s plays. Apart from his defensive play, I found he moved the puck quite well with strong retrieval plays and smart passes to find his forwards on breakouts and his skating wasn’t an issue either as he was able to effectively track his opponents off the rush and steer them towards the perimeter of the offensive zone. Just a reliable presence on the back end of this Mission defence core.

Parker Schellenberg is yet another defenseman for Team Kelly Green whose impact at camp could not be understated. Starting with his play on the defensive end, he was able to shut plays down effectively with his positioning, strong poke checking ability, and strength in puck battles. He utilized his stick very well and was able to cut out passes by making good reads and quickly stepping up and intercepting the puck. He stood up the opposition effectively and was extremely difficult to get by, he pressured play very well and drove puck carriers to the outside to limit dangerous chances. He transitioned play up the ice well with his powerful skating and crisp passing, making it easy to exit the defensive zone and gain the offensive zone. His play in the offensive zone was where his impact was felt the most, his timely pinches and ability to keep plays alive at the point were integral to keeping his team on the front foot and feeding the puck back into the fray quickly. He activated well from the point and was constantly finding avenues to get down low and provide passing outlets for his forwards, and he was able to carve out paths to the net where he could crash for rebound opportunities. He found shooting lanes well from the point and was able to get the puck on net regularly, and he facilitated play with quick passing by always knowing what his options were. He came away with two goals and three assists through four games and was a key contributor to the offense as well as an effective defender; it was a very strong showing from Parker Schellenberg.

Schellenberg had a really solid showing in this game for Mission on defense. Being a bigger guy, Schellenberg was not scared to punish opposing players in this game. Schellenberg played with a very calm presence on the ice, never over playing the puck or trying to force a play that was not there. Schellenberg did have a couple of nice plays pinching in the offensive zone that really caught the opposing teams’ players off guard. Schellenberg also scored a goal in this game in what was a beautiful shot from the point through traffic.

Schellenberg showed himself as one of the better two-way defensemen in this game. His great play started back in the defensive zone where he was great at not giving opposing players space. Instead, he was always active with his stick, consistently applying pressure on opposing players as they entered the offensive zone. He had several impressive moments where he expertly timed his stick checks, allowing the shooter to pull the trigger before getting a crucial stick on the puck at the last second, disrupting their scoring chances. His ability to read plays and anticipate the opposition made him a formidable presence on defense. Schellenberg also added to his team's success on offense by moving up in the play and unleashing a well-placed shot coming down the wing.

It was a strong offensive showing from Parker Schellenberg in this one as he did a good job manning the point and keeping the attack running smoothly. He read play well, pinched along the boards, kept the puck in the zone and got the puck down low to the forwards quickly through passes or shots on goal. He was quick to activate from the point and work his way into central scoring areas where he connected on some short passes to open up space for his teammates. He operated well off the rush by finding some shooting lanes and quickly switching the play from one side of the ice to the other. He showed off some good mobility and was able to cover plenty of ground at the point to be a key facilitator to the offense.

This was a very solid game from Parker Schellenberg, contributing a goal and an assist for his side while also being effective on the defensive side of the puck. His long reach was effectively used to wrap puck carriers up along the boards as well as knocking the puck loose on some well timed poke checks. He stood players up effectively and utilized the full extent of his frame to prevent players from getting by him. For someone who enjoyed spending time in the attacking end and getting involved in the offense, he showed excellent recovery speed to ensure he got back in position to defend. He was very successful keeping plays alive in the offensive zone with his ability to pinch and prevent the puck from being cleared out, and he quickly got rid of the puck after knocking it down to keep the pressure on the defense. He found time to get down low in the zone and present as a passing outlet, his quick passing helped open up space for the forwards to operate. His goal came on a nice decision to crash the net on a rebound from a good chance off the rush. Overall it was a very effective showing from the Chicago Mission defenseman as he showed his abilities at both ends of the ice.
