Austin Robson
Regional Scout- Eastern Canada
Caron’s mobility and heady puck movement were on full display throughout this year’s QMJHL Cup. He wasn’t afraid to take on contact on his retrievals in his own zone, showing good scanning habits so that he could make a quick play with the puck no matter how close the forechecker was too him. I thought his puck moving in transition was one of the best among defenders as well. His lateral mobility allowed him to buy time for himself with the puck, make the appropriate read and then deliver a crisp and accurate outlet pass to a teammate in stride. He’s not the most physical defender in his own zone, but his skating ability allows him to stick with forwards along the perimeter and use his stick to strip them of the puck if they tried to make a move to the inside.
