Armit was one of the surprises of the tournament, thriving in a complimentary role alongside Nolann Héroux and James Scantlebury while finishing with 4 goals in 4 games. Being the biggest player on the line, he was often the one engaged in board battles along the perimeter in the offensive zone in order to win back possession and initiating the cycle game. He also helped facilitate the playmaking acumen of both Scantlebury and Héroux by getting himself into open pockets of space to make himself option or driving the front of the net so he could jump on loose pucks as the presented themselves in the crease area. He also proved difficult to stop with the puck on his stick attacking downhill, fighting through checks using a low center of gravity and barrelling is way to the front of the net to create scoring chances in tight.

Armit’s game is centered around his ability to leverage his strength around the perimeter in the offensive zone to come out on top in puck battles and initiate the cycle game. Once he won the puck, he showed really strong puck protection abilities to circle the zone, work his way through the hands of defenders and make smart plays with the puck. He flashed some high-end puck skills at times where he was able to beat multiple defenders off the halfwall, gain access to the middle of the ice and get a shot off from the slot. His power game below the goal line was another positive aspect of his game, making hard cuts to the front of the net looking to cause havoc in the crease area and funnel pucks to the middle of the ice in the process. He’s a player who could really explode offensively this year with the proper development.

I thought Armit displayed a combination of strong work ethic and offensive instincts away from the puck, often taking off up the ice to make sure he’s joining plays in transition or putting himself in the right spots in the offensive zone to jump onto loose pucks and make a quick play with the puck which included a nice setup in the third period after he picked off an opponents pass and made a quick pass towards the net for a good scoring chance. He was able to score the game-winning goal for his team after using his speed to get in behind the defence where he received a beautiful saucer pass from Scantlebury, sending him on a breakaway where he was able to put back his rebound from his initial shot that was denied.

Armit was doing the dirty work for his line playing alongside Héroux and Scantlebury, complimenting the two top prospects extremely well throughout this game. He set up a scoring chance early on in the game when he won a battle below the goal line and made a quick centering feed to the mid slot that was ultimately denied. Off-puck he was doing a good job of getting himself into the soft spots of the offensive zone which earned him a few solid looks from the inside. He was rewarded for his efforts early in the second period when he followed up on a rebound off the rush and banged home a rebound in tight for his team’s second goal of the game.

Quiet for the first two periods, Armit really came alive in the third and started to showcase his intriguing size and skill combination. When things started to click for him, he was able to dominate along the boards in the offensive zone, using his frame to consistently come out on top in puck battles and make hard cuts from below the goal line to the front of the net to generate chances in front. There were a couple of times where he was able to leverage his skill to get around defenders off the halfwall and attack the middle of the ice to get a shot off from the slot.
