Director of Scouting
For a puck skill, possession-type player as Bedard naturally is, his instincts for finding proper passing timing and his intensity without the puck to get to scoring areas in the slot are intense. If the puck isn’t on his stick, he’s often around the net front with the desire to tip pucks or pounce on rebounds. Since his hand-eye coordination is high level, he often gathers loose pucks and jams home second effort goals. It’s the combination of a sense of pressure and the ability to drag pucks the length of his reach laterally with his ability to drive the net front and compliment his teammates. It shows he’s willing to play multiple styles of games and adapt to different team roles despite high-end stickhandling and contorl on the exterior.

Donesh Mazloum
Regional Scout - Western Canada
Bedard has shown marked improvement in his skating over the summer and his added pace has really allowed his passing instincts to shine even against the best of his peers. He is so adept and natural at feeding pucks through traffic. He targets angles that attack the space under the opponent’s stick and feet, showing the knowledge of when a soft touch into open space or a crisp stinger through the gap, is needed. His stickwork is also a strength as he uses his quick hands to manufacture lanes while also aiding defensively with well timed stick lifts and clever strips.
