Cole Longacre wasn’t nearly as flashy as his teammates. D’Alessandro played an extremely active game that saw his number always mentioned. Della Salla’s ability to control the pace of play and passing was similarly noticeable. But Longacre was cool, calm, and reserved himself to reliable play… well, that and filling up the scoresheet. Longacre scored the game-winning goal with 5 seconds left and assisted each of the three other goals. It was an incredible showing from a player that some may not have expected to explode with scoring entering the tournament. But Longacre served as the perfect back-line to the Essentials offense. His passing headlined his game, with great plays on the breakout and regroup. Just like Della Salla, these strong plays helped push Hockey Essentials up the ice. In the offensive zone, Longacre played a calm, aware style that paired perfectly with the riskier play of D’Alessandro. The two were a perfect tandem and Longacre’s passing from the blue was terrific, commanding play with ease. With so much chemistry immediately formed between the lineup, Longacre was able to thrive.

Longacre looked rock solid at the back for Windy City in Foxboro, his defensive positioning was sound, he threw good body checks, he was active offensively; it was a well-rounded showing from him. He was able to maintain good gap control when defending in his own end and he did well to steer attackers towards the boards to close down their attacking options and engage them physically. His shot looked good and he was intelligently throwing pucks towards the net looking for redirections. A real solid showing for Longacre and the Storm.
