Puck Preps
Regional Scout - USA
Although his game was at times unspectacular, the details and efficiency of Starr’s game stabilized the back end and provided offensive jump when called upon. He’s a smooth skater who has good handling ability and was efficient at putting puck to tape and pushing pucks up ice. He could get turned around from time to time in the defensive zone but had the ability to recover and get his footing back in the play. His gap coverage was impressive and his ability to keep pace and use his stick to defend helped him keep opponents to the outside.

Noah Poirier
Regional Scout - Eastern Canada
Starr is a rangy defender who does a good job using his reach to keep attackers to the perimeter. He makes a hard, crisp first pass up the ice to his forwards leading to a quick transition up ice. He did a good job of disrupting plays by tying up sticks in front of his net. Jake made some nice plays where he didn’t rush his breakout, when an outlet didn’t arise, he didn’t panic and could break out himself if needed. He used quick feints in the offensive zone to activate off the blue line which caught opponents off guard. His ability to keep plays alive at the line led to some goals for his team.
