Henry’s size at 6’2 and 180 lbs in conjunction with his physical toolkit and offensive ability made him one of the more tantalizing defenders at this event. He was highly effective on defensive zone retrievals, using a series of shoulder fakes and quick cuts to shake forecheckers and either wheel the puck out of danger with his feet or execute a crisp outlet pass on either his backhand or forehand. He possesses a hard and accurate shot from the blueline, especially off a one timer, that made him a threat to score from distance at both even strength and on the powerplay. There were still times where Henry relied too heavily on his skillset, either trying one too many as a puck-carrier through the neutral zone or peeling back in the defensive zone trying to use his feet to get away from forecheckers. Despite this, Henry’s performance at this event made me more optimistic about his projectability to the next level as an effective defender who can provide offense from the backend.

Henry’s performance at this event continues to turn some heads in the scouting world, as he strung together another fine showing in this game. His ability to escape pressure using his feet on both regroups and retrievals makes him a crucial part of the transition game of whatever team he plays for. He showed in this game that he can be a dual threat on breakouts, either using hard and accurate outlet passes to teammates in stride to exit the zone or using his feet to carry the puck up the ice. He scored his team’s second goal of the game in the third period by blasting a one timer from above the circle that beat the goaltender clean over the shoulder.

Henry’s tantalizing size/tools combination flashed itself in spurts, but when it did you saw a defenseman who could make a serious impact at the next level. He moves extremely well for a 6’2 and 179 lbs defenseman and was often using his feet to carry the puck up ice and lead the attack off the rush. He uses deception on his retrievals to shake forecheckers, followed by a series of powerful crossovers that allows him to turn up the ice with speed. His agility on regroups allows him to escape pressure as well, where he’s able to buy time for himself for a passing lane to open up.
