Bozkaya is far from a finished product, but he flashes some exciting athleticism and I value his desire to put his stamp on the game. He is extremely aggressive defensively, keeping a tight gap and stopping a ton of rushes before they have a chance to get going. He doesn’t have the prettiest stride, but his athleticism allows him to respond and battle back into position even if the opponent has a half step on him. He will certainly need some fine tuning on picking his spots a little more carefully, but you’ll live with some mistakes to take his activity level. His constantly moving feet and aggressive nature is seen offensively as well where he is constantly probing and asking questions of a defensive structure. He is never one to simply go through the motions and he excels at changing the angle at the offensive blueline to create lanes to the net. The only thing holding him back is an extra level of forethought which will breed more consistency from shift to shift.

I’ve really liked Koray’s game all year but he wasn’t producing early on in the season at all. He began with one point in seven games but has since scored ten points in nine games including six goals. My notes on him transitionally and defensively are just always so positive. He’s got great size already, makes dependable outlet passes, ties up players net front, and has such a terrific feel and blend for his defensive play. He uses a lot of stick pokes and just sports very mature habits. I think at his size I’d look for him to add a bit more physicality to his play when he looks to finish and adding natural strength should make his shot more dangerous too. You can see that he is delaying or dragging the puck in order to find the shooting lanes which is excellent. I think as he moves up levels he’s just going to continue to be a coach's delight.

Bozkaya is another defender that I thought showed well despite the score. He was very committed to taking engagements early and often stopped the opposition rush before it had the chance to get started. His tight gap and willingness to defend the offensive blueline served to create some of the few moments of sustained pressure for BC. I also like his footwork when walking the line. He is deceptive in his pace and out-skates coverage to create lanes and change the angle for shots towards the net. His defensive game needs some work, but it is not due to lack of effort. I think defensive tidiness can be taught and Bozkaya’s activity level is worth the occasional mistake in my eyes.
