The trio of forwards brings that swagger, confidence, and puck control when they are at their best. Ollie makes fantastic pressure reads in the offensive zone to make cuts and spins along the boards and maintain possession. It makes him quite the good cycle possession player. I saw little touch passes to himself, quality snapshots off the wing, and moments where he builds good speed through his crossovers while maintaining the vision. There was a moment in the game against BWC where he grabbed the zone entry, drove wide, and opened his hips and posture to create passing options in the middle before continuing wide around the net. It is about vision, control, and finding passing lanes into the interior. Ollie has not hit the Top-60 ranking for the draft but I think he’s certainly really close to that grouping of players as far as long term potential. He’s a smart, adaptable, well-rounded player. Much like his teammates, a little more strength, speed, and agility will move him up tiers of this draft class.

I liked how heavy he was on the forecheck early on, and how he can move well in a glide or through his lengthy crossovers. He can close a gap pretty quickly at times and force passes to the net front. I think most of his decision making that I enjoyed came when assessing the pressure and layers of coverage in front of him. He was curling back, recalibrating, and had the puck control and skating capacity to cut on one foot in motion. He used those abilities to fade to the half wall on the PP or cut back heavy in the slot into a stronger shooting motion. Each instance was him reacting well to counter punch against the pressure.

I think by my count he had at least a goal and an assist in this effort by baiting players wide and feeding pucks back into the slot. I loved how he waits for the stick pressure to arrive before releasing just before the close happened. It opened up the maximum amount of space for the attack into the middle. Later on, he grabbed a puck in the slot and went fake to backhand for a great chance. I feel like that was the move by Team Canada as a whole today and it worked to perfection. I think his line had the most chemistry and their efforts off the rush when he could maybe separate for odd man rushes led to good chances.
