A leading puck carrying weapon for his team, Trey Wilson, did a great job at playing with speed, moving the puck under his own power and slicing up play through the neutral zone in transition. With some strong footwork and power, he was able to react and process the game at a high level as he waltzed around obstacles with speed and control, pushing defenders back on their heels in the process, and opening up ice off the rush to set up plays. I found him to be one of the leading offensive weapons on both the playmaking and scoring side of things, he showed some good strength to fend off opponents, dropping the shoulder and driving the net. In the process he was able to quickly flip to his forehand while battling his way to the net, getting a quick shot on net in the process. In tight quarters with a checker on his shoulder he shown the ability to spin out of pressure and hook a pass over to an open man, creating time and space for others through some physical resilience in battles. For a player displaying as strong fleet-a-foot transition skill as he did, the physical strength and puck protection ability when the game slowed down was a nice feather in his cap to help him remain effective when the time and space to carry the puck with speed wasn’t there. As a whole, another top player for the St. Louis AAA Blues across the event.

Trey Wilson did a great job complimenting some of the high-end players on the Blues, bouncing passes back-and-forth with speed and pace between his linemates, he really got the engine going for his team on some chances, getting his feet and hands moving, challenging open ice in dangerous areas, forcing opponents to keep tabs on him, and displayed some nice finishing talent when the puck was on his stick. He was really quick to turn pucks from his backhand to forehand in a pinch, flipping pucks to a shooting position, and snapping a shot on net before defenders could converge on him. It was mostly the on-puck involvement that caught my eye, constantly seeing number 29 involved in the offensive zone cycle, and overall making consistently smart plays with speed.
