Gosselin has quickly turned into a favorite of mine relative to this Québec forward glass. He’s one of the more physical developed kids at this stage of development, and he definitely knows it. With the puck he’s always looking to attack defenders head on, using deceptive acceleration and a quick change of gears to get a step on defenders, dip a shoulder and make a hard cut to the front of the net for a chance. He had some strong moments of playmaking off the rush as well, where he was able to either execute a cross-ice feed or circle the net and slip a pass to the low slot for a dangerous chance. Gosselin was one of the few forwards who could really operate off the cycle, using his frame to shield pucks effectively and utilize give and go’s to get himself shots off from the inside.

Gosselin plays a smart and responsible game as a centerman and was noticeable every time he stepped on the ice. He’s very positionally sound in all three zones, supporting his defensemen down low in the defensive zone and his wingers in the offensive zone. His off-puck movement in the offensive zone is advanced for his age as he jumps in and out of congested areas trying to make himself an available passing option for teammates. He’s able to generate good speed through his crossovers which makes him difficult to contain in the neutral zone. His top-end speed also allows him to beat defenders wide off the rush and cut to the net for a scoring chance. There were flashes of some really good playmaking ability, exhibiting the capacity to feather accurate passes through opponents while moving at top speed. He has a very projectable game for the M18 circuit and I’m excited to keep track of his development for the 2025 QMJHL Draft.

Gosselin’s straight-line speed and strong playmaking made him a factor throughout this game. As a puck carrier he displayed some deceptive acceleration to attack wide around defenders, gain a step and then make a hard cut to the net to generate a chance from in tight. He was also using his speed to pressure defenders with the puck whenever he could, often stripping them of the puck and either attacking downhill into space or executing cross-ice passes to teammates for high-danger chances.
