Max was the primary offensive creator for Team White. Wildfong was buzzing all over the offensive zone, trying to attack the dangerous areas and get quality shots off from premium locations. It just always seemed like he was making things happen and involved in the play when he was on the ice and an obvious standout for Team White. Wildfond tallied one of White's goals, picking up a loose puck in the neutral zone, accelerating into the offensive third and firing one past the goaltender from long range.

Max did not skip a beat despite his team being outplayed in this game. He kept creating offensive rallies, forcing turnovers by irritating puck carriers on the forecheck with his stick, and then converting them into offensive rushes. His ability to cut up the ice, carving out a path to overtake defenders, allowed him to create quality rush opportunities in a game where his team struggled to generate such opportunities.

Game Information 2024 Alliance Face-Off
Max has always stood out whenever I watch this Waterloo squad, and that was the case again. There were flashes of offensive creativity, combining his hands and quickness to drive to scoring areas, but I was mainly impressed with his off-puck game. Max was persistent without the puck, closing down defenders and just being a pest on the forecheck. Max was always looking to apply pressure and get in passing lanes, forcing many turnovers all over the ice. It's not the most flashy element, but it's always nice to see a player thrive in another area of the game to complement past assessments of his offensive ability.

Game Information 2024 Toronto Titans Early Bird
The Wolves had a trio of forwards who I felt were the main positive drivers, and of them, I was most impressed with Max. He played with pace, using his powerful and explosive skating to dictate the play. I thought Wildfong was one of the Wolves' leaders in transition, carrying the puck up and down the ice, and sparking chances upon zone entry. He had a handful of quality scoring chances, using his quickness down the wing and gaining a step on defenders wide to drive the net for the scoring chances. There was one especially noteworthy sequence under this theme where Max used his speed to take the puck wide, continue to behind the net, and score a shorthanded wraparound goal. If there was no lane for Wildfong to exploit, he was effective at scanning for passing options and slipping pucks through traffic to teammates on the interior for quality chances. Overall, I just thought Max was the one controlling the play when he was on the ice, driving play in transition, and the backbone to a lot of the Wolves' offensive creation in my viewings of them over the Titans Tournament.

Game Information 2024 Draft Day Showcase
The prevalent theme of the Alliance East squad was how many Waterloo Wolves played vital roles over the weekend, Wildfong being one of them. I appreciated Max's eagerness and ambition to attempt high-end plays over the showcase weekend. While he wasn't always successful, he was trying to attack and penetrate the interior for high-quality chances. Whether off the rush or the cycle, Wildfong showed the confidence to attack the middle lane, even if it meant trying to deke and dangle his way by a defender in his path. He scored one of his numerous goals over the weekend through this exact type of sequence, picking up the puck in the corner, walking out toward the net, and blasting a shot short-side high, notching a powerplay goal. Max found the back of the net many other times and threaded passes resulting in goals, but this attack mindset and confidence really shined in his game, making him a standout on Alliance East.

Wildfong is another player on Team White that created plenty of scoring chances in this match. I mainly noticed him for his powerful skating ability and his constant desire to try to penetrate the interior, even if it meant carrying it through pressure. Through these sequences, Max had plenty of scoring chances and converted on one after dodging a few stick checks en route to the slot before putting it in the back of the net.
