A tenacious forward with skill in bunches, Ethan Garden offers strong two-way play that is sure to catch the eyes of more than a few teams. The Michigan native is slightly on the smaller side at 5’9” but he plays a big game and is the first to dive into the dirty areas and engage in puck battles, and he often wins them and is quick to get the puck out of corners and to the netfront on the tapes of his teammates. He attacks off the rush very well utilizing his pace and puck skills to blow by players, but he also sets up well in the attacking end by using his skating and passing ability to pick apart defenses. His intelligence shines through in his movement off the puck and ability to pop into pockets of space and get involved in quick passing exchanges or get a shot off in tight. His ability and willingness to forecheck and limit offensive chances for the opposition adds another level to his game as he can then quickly use his skills on the rush after winning the puck back himself. Consistency throughout the course of a game is perhaps something that he has maybe struggled with, but the tools are all there for him and his dynamism can inject life into any offense.

Garden is one of the most important players to the identity of this Little Caesars team, his passing is excellent and finds players in great positions. He attacks with confidence and uses his speed to delve into dangerous areas of the ice, acutely aware of where his teammates are and making a quick feed to the tape and setting up an opportunity. His engine never seems to run out and his physical edge that enables him to get the inside step on defenders by muscling his way in there always comes in handy as he scoops up loose pucks and quickly turns it into offense.

2024 USA Hockey 15O National Championship - Bishop Kearney Selects vs Little Caesars
A solid game from Ethan Garden in this one, he was probably the most effective and consistent forward on the ice for Little Caesars. Even when they were struggling early on, Garden was using his speed to blow by the opposition and get himself into scoring areas. He had a couple of good shots that were stopped but he pressed on for the rebounds and contested pucks to keep them on the front foot. He attracted a lot of attention with his skating and puck handling and used that to his advantage as he began turning dish-master with some no-look drop passes and slip passes through seams. He is very creative and when he takes it up a notch he can start to take over games, but he doesn’t always play at that level. His physical edge on the forecheck is something that always astounds me for someone his size. He really wedges himself in there and throws a quick hit, comes away with the puck, and very quickly gets the puck onto someone’s stick in a shooting area. His intelligence is a big part of his game and it is in moments like that when you can tell he’s processing things a step quicker than everyone else.
