Scouting Report
EVALUATED 03/12/2024
Cameron Patton
Regional Scout - USA
Murtagh seemed to struggle early on in both games, having trouble reacting to the Canadians pace. However, he showed flashes of his speed and skill throughout each game. Murtagh has the ability to create scoring chances out of seemingly nothing situations. He can change pace and direction quickly while keeping strong control of the puck. He fired home the Americans only goal of the first game with a wicked one-timer from the top of the circle on the powerplay. Murtagh followed that up with another one-timer goal on the powerplay to tie up game two in the third period. His speed created space for a breakaway opportunity late in the 2-2 game and almost snuck one through five-hole. Aside from his early struggles, he played two solid games, demonstrating elite offensive playmaking and scoring.
