Logan Anderson was with certainty the top player for this Florida Alliance South team, against tougher opponents time-and-time again he was able to lead the charge in transition, moving with solid speed, power, and control with the puck. He consistently found time and space going wide on defenders, which then resulted in him proceeding to make slight inroads towards the middle of the net as he dropped the shoulder and carved out some ice for himself. There were a handful of scoring opportunities that fell Anderson’s way, where he was able to make the most of it with a quick read along with a heavy and hard shot directed on net. He got his teammates involved throughout the showcase as well, pushing the pace of play by staying active and dynamic on-and-off puck, setting up plays, one-touch passes, and overall hitting open teammates as he saw them before darting into open ice to receive the puck back in a scoring area. There was a nice level of defensive commitment to go with Anderson’s offensive impact, getting physical with puck carriers, he gave no easy inch of ice, taking away time and space in the defensive end.

In Logan you have a well balanced and strong skater. He gets low in his cuts allowing him to be agile and powerful out of his stops and starts. While it isn’t a common overwhelming thing I make notes about, I thought Logan’s angling was creative and effective. Defensively he had moments coming back out of the offensive zone where he closed off space so well preemptively. Offensively, he understands how to get the inside shoulder on players, battle through physical pressure, and set himself up by taking smarter routes by delaying or attacking into open gaps. From timing to touch passes to the ability to continue to improve, Logan was one of the best players in each game.

Once again displaying his exciting combination of pace and skill, Anderson led the charge for this Florida offence. He tied the score on two different occasions, with two nearly identical goals, where he scooped up loose pucks with speed through the neutral zone, sliced his way through a few defenders and snapped the puck past goaltenders in stride with well-placed shots. He was constantly executing plays in motion and challenging defenders with his feet but what made him so effective in this game was his ability to make precise cuts to change his angle of attack, create separation from defenders and then display his playmaking prowess.

I thought Anderson was the most impactful player on the ice in this contest, showcasing his impressive combination of speed and skill to challenge defenders off the rush and drive offence for his team. What made him so dangerous in transition was his incredibly quick build up of speed, taking only a few strides to reach his max speed and traverse through the neutral zone with incredible pace and control of the puck. Inside the offensive zone, he was constantly driving plays into the middle of the ice whether it was through calculated and precise passes to the slot or effortlessly maneuvering his way through crowds to garner quality shot opportunities. He was responsible for setting up his team’s tying goal early in the third period after circling around the net and whipping a puck towards the net which created a rebound that was scooped up and buried by Hoestetler.

Often the heartbeat of this Florida Alliance club, Logan Anderson was once again one of their top players, carrying his strong momentum during the season into Nationals. He has great speed and processing ability to carry the puck up ice, evading pressure and obstacles and pulling off slippery moves in stride when necessary to continue making his way up ice. Great power and balance made him tough to slow down, establishing a wide base, he’s strong on his feet and was able to get around opponents, box them out, and drive the net on a few rushes. He was consistently carrying the puck was great speed, giving the St. Louis defenders trouble on a regular basis. His best look of the match came late in the game, picking off a pass and ringing a shot off the crossbar. His release and shooting threat throughout the game was evident, the puck popping off his stick, surprising the defenders and the goaltender on a few occasions.

Logan Anderson was without a point in this contest but there was still plenty to like about his game. He showed good skill on the puck and was able to fly up the ice in transition and handle the puck well to navigate the neutral zone effectively. His pace wasn’t blistering but he used well timed bursts of speed to cut through the defense and get himself into space. His work on the defensive side of the puck was strong as well, taking up good positions in the neutral zone to easily cut out passes in transition and turn his team back to offense in a flash. He was quick to hunt down loose pucks and apply pressure on the forecheck and backcheck, not allowing the opposition much time to make decisions.

With Logan you can find balance, strong pushes, low and composed posture, and deeper agile cuts. He was throwing in quick decisions and touch passes in motion which made him versatile. I thought his defensive game was just as impressive as his work in the offensive zone too. You could find him coming back through the neutral zone and getting his shoulder inside of a player pushing along the boards. He ended up with a goal in the game but his overall impact was much greater.
