McKinney was noticeably the best American player in both games of this series and looked like he was playing on a different level than his teammates. He can play in all situations as a responsible center with tremendous offensive upside. The speed and puck carrying ability of McKinney allows him to take over games and drive the play up ice. He has tremendous vision with the puck and is extremely difficult to take it from. His body positioning and edges allow him to create his own space coming out of corners allowing him to attack the net or set up his teammates. He scored his lone goal of the series on a breakaway in game two but created numerous scoring chances on a night where his team only registered 12 shots on goal. McKinney looks like he’s more than ready to take the next step to college hockey at Michigan next season.
